Question baby robins question

Does anyone know if it is normal for a nest of baby robins to be left unattended for several hours in the evening--around 5-7 or so? The babies are about 4 days old, I think. The momma has been on the nest or in the yard until today;she never goes far. Now, suddenly I don't see the momma anywhere. I do see 3 little fuzzy heads with beaks open to the sky waiting for food and it worries me! Mom was sitting on the nest last night and this morning. Thanks so much!!

Hi Maggie
We have robins nesting in our mini-greenhouse, outside the back door, and they are on their second brood.
Judging by the activities of our robins, the babies are left for several hours when mum and dad are not feeding them, and they are absolutely fine.

There tends to be a lot of coming and going with food from sunrise to mid-morning and then it all goes quiet, and sometimes mum is on the nest and sometimes she goes off for a few hours. In the evening feeding seems to start up again about 7-ish and then they are feeding them until it gets dark, at which time mum goes back on the nest with them.

Dad robin seems to do most of the feeding.
The routine of our robins is that the babies are spending more time without mum as they grow.

They are now 12 days old and are due to leave the nest on Tuesday.....6 little fluffy bundles!!!

I'm sure yours will be just fine. It'll be nice to hear how they are getting on as they get bigger
