I bought some square cage feeders and put a peanut fat cake in one and a fruit fat cake in the other, and the birds adored them until now. think it is just a bit too cold!

I'm really pleased to hear my tip helped you out. The starlings go mental for my homemade fat cakes too! I counted 11 at the feeder station at one time the other day.
